I've read the article for the GTX 970 and 980 second gen Maxwell GPU's but I am currently in a big dilemma. I currently own a Corsair CX 500 Watt power supply and I am torn between the R9 280X and GTX 970. I know that since the 970 hasn't been released yet it's hard to make any assumptions about real world tests regarding the potential gamer population that's going to be using these cards. My question is the following. Can I use GTX 970 with the 500 watt PSU I currently own? If not what would be the best graphics card for the money I could get without changing my Power Supply? Also please take into consideration that I'm currently using an EVGA GTX 660 FTW ACX. In addition the XFX R9 280X DD claims to be needing a minimum of 750 watt PSU to run properly as mentioned in XFX's website. The GTX 970 on the other hand requires at lest a 500 Watt power supply but might be damaged in the long run if there isn't enough power coming from the PSU. I was thinking of purchasing an EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 650W Full Modular Power Supply in order to be safe and sound and perhaps future proof my system a bit more.
