Asus GTX770, or Asus R9-280X. (or wait for info about Maxwell GTX860 though new rumor says GTX860 may be 2015, with only GTX880 now. who knows..)

The Asus GTX770 is a very well built card. It, and one of the EVGA versions are the only models I recommend.

Since they're basically identical for performance (GTX770 vs R9-280X), it comes down to other differences.

R9-280X:
- 3GB VRAM
- Mantle support

GTX770:
- PhysX
- Shadowplay (record desktop/games with minimal impact on frame rate)
- Streaming (same NVENC encoder that makes Shadowplay work well. Steam streaming, Shield etc)
- G-Sync support (for new monitors)
- NVidia Adaptive VSync and other driver settings are better (though RadeonPro the unofficial tool has good features such as "Dynamic VSync" which I believe works like Adaptive VSync)

SLI is better than CROSSFIRE.

*If you don't care about any of the specifics then maybe get the R9-280X for the extra VRAM in case it's needed in the near future, otherwise I think the NVidia GTX770 is the better option.
