It's on both sides, the 1070 and 1080 and even in insanely priced Titan XP are all suffering from low stock and inflated prices. AMD targeted the mid range market specifically, but lack of stock, inflated prices are pushing"early adopters", which for some cards...it's not that early, to settle for a card below what they should have been able to afford had stock been plentiful.

I just never hear an answer as to why stock is so low and where the malfunction in the supply system is.

My RX480 8 Gb runs Doom@1440 in Nightmare mode (in which case the 8 Gb version is mandatory), and I get 60-80fps. Granted, it's only when under Vulkan - so I guess the RX480 4Gb gets the recommendation now, the 8Gb version will get it instead in a couple months...

Interesting...ALL of the previously numerous out-of-stock $199 reference 480 listings have vanished from NewEgg. At the same time the higher priced custom card availability seems to be improving. Think I'd be better off to stop looking...only gonna burn me up more...lol

Please bring back the hierarchy chart. It was so incredibly useful and sorely missed. I have a dated one hung up at my workplace and would love to see it updated soon! Thanks!!

CHRIS ANGELINI where is the graphics card hierarchy chart? Remember not everybody has the convenience of living in the first world and can only buy conveniently what is currently available at their local pc store

I highly disagree with the GTX 950 being in that spot because the 4gb version of the RX 460 can be found as low as $130 with rebate and before rebate it's at $140. The GTX 950 will do slightly better in Direct X 11 games, but it will suffer with Vulkan and Direct X 12 games. I'm one to lean towards newer technology than gives you more headroom with upcoming games and the GTX 950 drivers aren't likely to get much better. The GTX 900 series isn't very well optimized for DX12 nor Vulkan like the GTX 1000 or the AMD R9 or RX series of cards.

I was trying to get decent 4K performance for $200 (for some reason, my 7950-3Gb kept erroring-out in World of Warships). GTX1060 can be found at Amazon $199, but only 3Gb at that price. 6Gb version is $250, similar to RX480. I ended up on Craigslist and scored a 980-4Gb for $175. I'll pay more in electricity but the memory matters at this resolution.
Interestingly, my 750ti-2Gb at work, games 4K fine at low settings and 30Hz. That's partly why I went Team Green.
Stupid 980ti are still $300+ used, maybe they'll drop closer to/after Christmas.

There is something that intrigues me.
I saw a lot of benchmarks where gtx 1080 was waay better than titan x. Is it because that was the maxwell titan x, not the new pascal?
