I would go with a gtx 970 at around 150 if you can find it around that price. Its a good gpu overall it does use more power than the new pascals gpus.

I like these Best cards reviews but I like the older style with representation of both AMD and Nvidia. Good or bad, if you have freesync setup, then you need Radeon info regardless. This article could be a bit better to suit both fanboys. If I didn't care about money, I'd still like to see where some AMD chipsets sit for various resolutions and that would be helpful because there's just to many variations to keep track of.

Nvidia and Best Buy are offering the NVidia GTX 1070 FE (Founders Edition) for $399. I built a new PC with a i5 8400 and wanted to upgrade my aged GTX 760 to go with it. I found a pair of Nvidia GTX 1070 FE cards in a local Best Buy today for $399 and was lucky enough to pick one up. Tremendous upgrade over the GTX 760 and don't listen to the hater hype about the FE cooler. It works great and the GTX 1070 FE even turbo boosts +200Mhz faster than the specs with no overclocking performed. The GTX 1070 is a beast.
