I am wanting to get a GTX 970 to pair with my I5 4690k and msi z97 pc mate mother board. I have a 650w PSU also.

I know there are several diffrent makes of the 970 such as MSI, EVGA, ext.

Which one is the best and what are the differences?

Thanks

heres what i got from the msi--its the only one i have have personally tried

out of the box

overclocked to 1500mhz

temp--maxed out at 72c at 1500mhz

noise--couldnt hear it over anything else in my case

now watercooled

speed--over 1600mhz with a custom bios

temp--max 55c at 1600mhz

noise--none as no fans

cost me £240 in november and still selling for more than that now

do i recommend it --100% yes

i just had a quick look and noticed they have lots of different ones, could you link the one you are refering to please? And would this be better than a MSI GTX 970?

This choice will be of personal preference.

It could be that you are looking at pure performance and don't care what it looks like.

On the other hand your case setup might be leaning towards a red and black theme so only cards like this would ' go '

I'm probably of the second group so would probably lean towards looks, performance and then cost.

a red and black theme is perferable however i much prefer performance. I would like the best performing 970 i can find, if its red and black thats a bonus but not a problem if its not

its hard to define better with the gtx970 as quite honestly most of the top makers cards are pretty good

so depends by better if you mean its clocked a bit faster by default

or its a bit quieter

or a bit cooler

red and black would be the msi g4 gaming

In order of what i care about most to least, speed / FPS - Cooler - quieter

yes I do, it's like an upgraded 970 in some ways, especially on the voltage circuit. And as it is a blower it vents the heat from the case.

And it's the one I've got.

Ok thank you, i care about the pure performance more than the heat and noise as i dont care about noise and i can arrange adequate cooling

speed--well some come set a bit higher than others but then you can overclock them any way

fps--same as speed really

cooler--wont be more than a couple of degrees between the top cards

noise--wont be a huge difference between the top cards i wouldnt think--but have personally only heard the msi

so if i said i wanted the one with highest performance (i know you said theres not alot of difference) which would you recommend and are all of them compatable with my motherboard?
