Hi!

My brother is looking for a new computer that'll be used for simple tasks like web browsing, excel, entertainment like movies and youtube, etc and all those basic things.

I looked at these 2:
- Lenovo IdeaPad G50-70 15.6"
- Acer Aspire V3-331 13.3"

The Lenovo is the cheapest, but how is it? Is it good quality? I see it has 4GB RAM, 500GB 5400RPM HDD, Intel Pentium CPU with integrated graphics. I was also thinking about perhaps replacing the HDD with an SSD for more speed and that'll also remove the bloatware. It features USB 2.0 ports so I can install Windows 7 easily unless the BIOS is heavily locked (is it heavily locked??).

Thanks!
Erik

what are every day tasks? the i7 is probably overkill. That Acer on the other hand has a crappy pentium thats way too weak, the mobile i3 is probably perfect for him. go with an i3 or i5 as long as it isn't a low model number its a very good laptop for every day tasks. I would go with a 390 i3 over a i5 4210U (my laptop vs my sisters, hers is newer but mine is wayyy better than hers). I have a DELL n5040 laptop with 4 GB RAM and an i3 M390 and i put a 60GB SSD in there and its blazing fast, does what i need it to perfectly. I do all my real computing tasks on my desktop (FX 8320)
