Hello, I have a HP Compaq 6000 pro sff and I wanted to upgrade the hell out of it because I'm not allowed to buy/build a computer. I got this as a reward for doing good in school. The current cpu in the computer is a Intel Pentium E6600 @3.06GHz. The reason for a 65w is because the power supply for this computer is 240w plus that is the TDP of my current CPU. The main reason that I am in need of one is 98% Gaming and 2% School. I am not someone who needs a game high quality I like low settings personally so I can get the most FPS out of the game. My price range is anything under 100$.

Thanks!

Providing a link to the motherboard would be useful, but since your system has a Pentium E6600, I'll presume it's compatible with Q8xxx and Q9xxx Quad processors. Unfortunately they all are 95W TDP. You may be limited to the 65W Core 2 Duo E8600 (not a huge performance gain; therefore not worth the expense).

The cpu i have is 65w cpu and i dont know what the maximum is with a graphics card but if it can it would have to be lower than 100w

The motherboard is HP 3048h thats all i know about the motherboard

Hewlett Packard 3048h Mainboard Processor Support List.

- Core 2 Quad Q9650 – 3.00 GHz, 12 MB L2 cache, (1333 MHz FSB)
- Core 2 Quad Q9550 – 2.83 GHz, 12 MB L2 cache, (1333 MHz FSB)
- Core 2 Quad Q9505 – 2.83 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, 1333 MHz FSB)
- Core 2 Quad Q9400 – 2.83 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, (1333 MHz FSB)
- Core 2 Quad Q8400 – 2.66 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, (1333 MHz FSB)

The best deal probably is a Q9550 that can be bought for $30 on eBay.

Which one is the best out of all of them?

For the purposes of gaming, those quads will be fairly close. I'd get which ever one was cheapest. Don't forget to get thermal paste since you will need to reapply it. Double check to make sure your current heatsink/fan will be enough for the upgraded CPU in case it doesn't come with one.
