Question Best Memory for 3900X? DDR4-3600?

apparently DDR4-3600 is recommended for a 3900X, not DDR4-3200. But its rated for 3200. Thoughts?

You can always oc aswell.

I went onto Canada Computers. It doesn't have to be from newegg Canada. It can be from anywhere, but I cant find a kit anywhere in canada

Ok well obviously that website needs to fix their search process. I sorted by 32GB, DDR4-3600, and it yielded 0 results. Lovely. Well, I guess Ill have to get that one then. No luck on CL16 by some shocking miracle, no??

Dont see any C16. if you are that worried about it you can tighten the timings to C16 in bios. May need some additional volts.

Should work. My ram brags about being Z170 compatable but works fine even overclocked on ryzen.

Changing it from CL17 to 16... would I have to change any of the other values? The whole set value is: 17-19-19-39. I assume all I have to do is change 17 to 16. But what about the 19s and 39s? What are they and will I need to change them?

Ryzen 3700x has been tested to run stable with memory up to 4900MHz. Truly that is blazing fast. .....

But what does running infinity fabric at 1/2 speed do to overall performance? I have to think that's why they recommend only to 3600, not cost of the memory kit.

Infinity fabric always has ran at 1/2 speed.
It needs to run as fast as possible, hence why faster ram speed helps performance so much

I'm not sure how to go about overclocking ram but surely there are a bunch of videos up on youtube. I did watch a buildzoid video where he said that ram will work much better than the advertised specs if you give it a few extra tenths of a volt. Most ram is tested at the factory at 1.35 V. Buildzoid mentioned that running ram at more than 2 V is possible, but a little nuts and would likely reduce the life of the chips. I'd think that 1.5-1.6 would be a nice spot to start and see if you can knock the timings down.

No, stock voltage is 1.35v

Intel says MAX voltage for DDR4 is 1.5v

1.6 would be bad, especially for ryzen.

I run ram at 1.4v daily with no issues, but I would never go much above 1.4 or 1.45.

I have a ryzen 3900x and i have running my cpu at 1.25V, the IF is at 1866mhz and the ram is at 3733mhz CL16 1.35V , i am using a patriot viper steel 4133mhz 1.35v kit

Differences between CL16 and CL17 are very slim. Detectable in benchmarks only.

Anyway - always go with 2 module kit on dual channel boards.
4 modules may even have trouble running at rated frequency.

do you know why the voltage of the ram kit in the website im going to buy it from is 1.2v while the voltage in the QVL is 1.35v? they both have the same serial number " F4-3600C16D-32GTZR" those are the same products if the serial number is the same right?

Usually 1.2V is for default frequency (3200mhz) and
1.35V for XMP frequency (3600mhz).
