Best monitor for r9 290x

Hey guys i got sapphire r9 290x tri-x and IDK which resolution should i go with 4k or 1440p?which is better quality!i primiraly use it for gaming, and sometimes for movies!

1440p would be ideal for a single R9 290X.

Depends entirely on the game.
A 1440p monitor would be perfect for the power that card has, keeping things above 60fps on most occasions on the highest settings. However, some games, such as Crysis 3 at the Very High settings will really tax it, causing you to dip below that threshold.

In short, a single 1080p display will almost never be too much for that card, a 1440p possibly, depending on how demanding games get.
If it was me, I'd go for the 1440p, it will handle most games and overall it's a card with a higher pixel count in mind.

I would imagine 4k to be too demanding for the 290x on anything but light games, plus, I think it's worth waiting for more of a market to 4k monitors to come about. All of the high end cards, even dual GPU ones, are struggling with the high resolution at high settings, it may take a while before we see it fully utilised.

I would recommend the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q, but it is a bit pricey.

I would personally pick the 1440p monitor
Because you would suffer some serious fps
drops if a r9 295x2 twice more powerful gets
around 40fps in Crysis 3 on 4k you would get
around 20fps. But in 1440p you would have a much better performance overall and the difference isn't that huge after all.

Others have touched on the definition, so I wont go to that. My suggestion is wait out for 2015 monitors. NVIDIA if you know has come out with the g-sync (Asus Rog swift), AMD has its free sync version due in early 2015. Apparently, this is built in with the vesa standards and should not have a huge premium, royalty free. The 290x should also support free sync. So if U hv a old monitor sticking around I say bear with it and make the switch next year.
