Essentially the question speaks for itself. While i'm stuck between the Asus X79 Deluxe, Asus Sabertooth X79 and Asus Rampage IV Black Edition. I'm entirely open to other suggestions, but i'd also just like to know which would be best for my build specifically out of these three choices as well. Essentially as this will be a Editing rig mainly, I want to be able to use the fastest RAM possible. I know that the Sabertooth only supports up to 1866, but if I could go faster, then I want to.

Solution
The Black has some additional goodies, both it and the Deluxe are newer model, released towards the end of last year and geared up for IB-E CPUs, the Sabertooth goes back to the original 2011 release in 2011 :) Can call them up at NewEgg and compare individual features between the the three

So just from your personal opinion, which would you recommend, or hell, even use in a build if you had a choice between the two?

The overclocking features of the RIVB are singularly extensive and the sound is the best of the bunch .... Though I have to say I am a big fan of the one you left out and that is the P9X79 WS which is cheaper than 2 of the three. You can compare the features here assuming THG doesn't truncate the link

Hit reply (quoting my post) and then copy paste the hole link into your broswer to get to the compare page

Tho I am curious....if this is a new rig , why X79 over X99 ?

I honestly just feel like it's too soon to jump into Broadwell and DDR4 RAM and X99 in general. I don't think that it's at it's full potential yet.

The expanded SATA support and USB3 are attractive but for me the main thing is at 3 years old x79 is at "end of life" stage. Foe me the biggest concern however is if ya grab a Sabertooth with it's 5 year warranty and the MoBo fails 2-3 years in, you'll likely wind up with them sending you a X99 Sabertooth. Then you have to go out and buy a new CPU.

.... been there done that, twice with 1156.

I have the exact same CPU as you, and for what you pay those boards are not worth it. The Gigabyte X79-UP4 does what you need, just a bit short on SATA 6GB/s ports and USB 3, which is common on the old LGA 2011 socket. The board supports 4 way GPU support to best capability X16/X16/X8/X8, and sustains my OC of 4.9Ghz.

Though I cannot give a reason to still go for an X79 based board, you far more worthwhile going X99 with a 5930k CPU. DDR4 Ram is the added bonus and prices for the ram were far less then expected.

I would recommend the Gigabyte X99 UD4 and intel i7 5930k instead, X79 boards are going into the age of outdated and extinction, and certainly not something I would invest in with the newer Haswell-E processors available. The X99 Boards have far better USB 3 port amounts and far better expansion abilities, something X79 can't compete with.
