Support for PCIe 3.0 in CPUs officially began in 2012 with Intel's Ivy Bridge processors. For starters, CPUs with PCIe 3.0 support don't exist for the LGA 775 socket.

Motherboards for PCIe 3.0 need PCIe 3.0 switches. There are no LGA 775 socket motherboards that exist with such switches.

There are only a few LGA 775 motherboards sold as new. The LGA 1156, along with LGA 1366, were designed to replace LGA 775 socket platform in September 2009. A few Intel G41 and G31 chipset motherboards are still manufactured and sold. The G41 and G31 don't use PCIe 2.0 but use PCIe 1.1.

You can find better LGA socket 775 motherboard models on eBay. Socket LGA 775 PCIe 2.0 models use Intel chipset models with the chipset number 43 or 45 or 48.
