I'm about to buy a new cpu and I'm thinking about buying a AMD X2 6000+. I've find a place with a good price for it. Anyway I wonder what motherboard I'll have to buy. Is there any motherboard that take that CPU and DDR3?

my experience with both brand :

Intel (P100, MMX 200, P3 300, P4 & P Dual -current) = best money can buy, no surprises (pleasant & unpleasant)

AmD (K6, Athelon XP) many surprises ;p , anyhow its less money involved

AM2 and the new AM2+ boards take DDR2 Ram.
AM3 boards which will come out sometime in 2008 will take DDR3.

If you are interested in AMD I would hold off on getting a 64x2 6000. I think AMD's new Phenom processors come out on November 19th. Less power consumption, more performance per watt, cooler, 6MB of Cache. Rest on your decision for one more month.

I think you will be glad you did.

There is currently no AM2 boards which support DDR3 .
M2N32-SLI DELUXE and ASUS CROSSHAIR are solid boards and they support AM2+ CPUs too

Ok, thanks guys. I'll probably wait a bit then for the AM3 or the Phenom. Did see the article about Black edition but I found it a bit annoying to buy something that they you're completley expected to overclock, why can't the just do that themselves? No, it's probably worth it I guess though I don't think it'll be completley worth it. I've always liked AMD so I'll just wait and see, either I'll buy this generation of CPUs or the next, I just don't want to up-date before some great leap in technology and find that it was wasted money.

690G board is a wise choice for AMD processors right now. 5000 Black would be nice. DDR2 at 800 is cheap. 690G will work with the next gen processors. Whatcha waiting for?

2 gigs DDR3 @ $570 ? No thanks, I'll just take that money and build a PC with it. I thank the people who do buy at that price. Someone has to pay the ramp-up fees. It just ain't gonna be me.

Just wait for the new AMD chipset arrives which MSI claims they OCed upto 510mhz bus speed which is usually 200Mhz or OCed upto 360Mhz only on current selected boards.

The AMD790 FX chipset which comes with PCI-e 2.0 and HT 3.0 and more.

No DDR3 on AMD since memory controller is based on procie and not from the boards maybe until new procie arrives.

They say its November.
