Best Nvidia 3D Vision Monitor

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my current monitor for one that supports Nvidia 3D vision. At the moment I'm considering getting the Acer Aspire GD245HQ however I'm unsure whether this is the one of the best options.

I'm looking for a monitor of around 23" give or take, with a refresh rate of at least 60Hz (Although I don't think any modern monitors would be less than this). A low response time would also be ideal, but I assume any 3D monitor will have a sufficient response time.

All 3D Vision monitors will be at least 120hz, which allow for 60hz per eye. These are all active shutter systems. This also means you'll be able to game at 120hz when 3D Vision isn't supported well.

As far as monitors go.
The 27" ASUS VG278HE is probably the best, but you will have to buy a 3D Vision 2 kit to go with it. What is special about this monitor is it has a 144hz refresh rate, which means you can get to 72 FPS 3D gaming, while normally 60 FPS is the cap.

The 27" ASUS VG278H is 120hz, but has the emitter built in and glasses come with it. It's probably the best 27" 3D Vision 2 monitor other than the one above.

The 24" BenQ XL2410T is considered a great 120hz monitor that also supports 3D Vision 2, but not built in. You need to buy the kit separately.

The 24" BenQ XL2410TX is the same as above with a built in emitter and comes with glasses.

These are all 3D Vision 2 with lightboost.

Is it simply an IR emitter plugged into the computer via a USB?

I've just had a quick look on the Nvidia site (http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/buy-3d-monitors-uk.html) and it looks like the GD245HQ on the left comes with everything, which is sweet.

I guess that's going on my Christmas list, thanks for the help.

I'm not sure that is the best option for you. It lacks the 3D Vision 2 lightboost. That is the old standard. You also didn't let me know if you are using Nvidia or not. 3D Vision monitors only work with Nvidia video cards.

When looking at 3D Vision monitors, make sure they support 3D Vision 2 with lightboost for the best results.

That said, I only have 3D Vision, and it is still very good, but then again, this monitor has extreme brightness to make up for not having lightboost.

I'm using a GTX 670 so I'm good on that front.

If you have a suggestion for a good monitor that supports 3D Vision 2 with lightboost (and is around 23") that'd be great. I'm pretty useless when it comes to monitors

My first post as only 3D Vision 2 monitors with lightboost, but half of them don't include the kit. The 24" BenQ XL2410TX, and 27" ASUS VG278H include the kit. Unfortunately, the BenQ model with the built in emitter isn't sold in Europe (no idea why).

Yea, the only one on the Nvidia site that boats 3D Lightboost is 27" (Asus VG278HE) which is a bit big for how close to the screen I am. It's still a possibility though, if the general consensus is that it's a good monitor.

I have noticed that the Nvidia page with the monitors often doesn't list lightboost on some of the monitors that are. As I said, the 4 have listed in this thread all have lightboost.

The 23" BenQ monitors don't seem to be commercially available in the UK with the exception of buying off eBay from other countries.

The Asus might be a possibility but it is on the large side for my distance from the monitor. It's a shame there aren't more options available.

That's looking like the ideal one for me at the moment. Not the nicest monitor aesthetically but as long as it does the job

I do not think it is the XL2410 that has lightboost. It is the 2420.
