I'm looking at my options for a new card and was wondering what some of you think. I plan on using a single monitor at 1080. I'd like to play some demanding games (Witcher 3, Crysis 3, etc...) but I think that a GTX 1080 or 1070 might be overkill for these games at 1080? Input is appreciated.

Solution
I would hold out for the GTX 1070, which is the sweet spot for price-performance. Assuming you can afford one and can wait until mid-June! The two games you mention need all the horsepower they can get, so you'll want to get the best card that matches your maximum budget.

On the other hand i would hold up and see what Polaris will show us. I got a feeling 1070 will be busted this time. 1070 has been analyzed already and it will certainly be more gimped then 970 was. Other than that there is nothing more then 1080 Founder Edition yet, which was proven to be a card for fanboys - reference card with with horrible cooling taxed additional 100$.

If you would get one immediately, my recommendation would be a GTX 960 4GB. Don't get the 2 GB, because nowadays 2 GB is too small. Do keep in mind the R9 380 4 GB performs slightly better at the same price. Do keep in mind you can wait for the GTX 1060 and R9 480 if that is even a thing.
