I run the i5-680 in my lga1156 systems and almost can't tell the difference between them an an i5-2500. But this is just for work, not playing games. In games you should definitely be able to tell.

Wouldn't use a Xeon for gaming. Especially an old one as they have poor IPC and and clocks.
