[SOLVED] Best older GPU?

Hi all. I started a little project with old parts lying around my room and managed to build an older computer. A capable one at that.
Specs are:
Mobo: M2N-VM DVI
CPU: Athlon 64 5000+ dual (overclocket to 3.0)
RAM: Patriot 2x2GB ddr2 800

Its running windows 10 and some games like gta san andreas, vice city, even most wanted without dedicated gpu .

My question is can someone recommend a gpu i can fit in this build. Im looking for something that would fit in this build and something that was pretty good back in 2010s and has aroung 512mb-1gb of vram.

GTX 400 or 500 series would be 2010-2012 from Nvidia, HD6000 or HD7000 series GPUs would cover the same period, generally speaking, from AMD.

I would suggest something like a GTX 550TI to probably be the 'best' fit for the build.... It's pretty pointless in 2020, but would fit the era you're going for here. However, finding on is likely to set you back ~$25 USD, at which point, you're probably $10 off much stronger cards, still of the era (480s, 580s)

Thanks for the reply. I'm aiming for that era specifically. These parts were in my old pc i grew up on. Kinda plan on keeping it for memories and good times. Hopefully one day show it to the kids haha. Gtx 550 ti sounds like a really good deal. Right now im looking hd6850. Pretty good card and its really cheap. For now i'll just wait for some kinda good deal. Not in a hurry 😀

Update. I bought an r7 260x for 20$. It works perfectly with the build and perfomance is amazing. 😀

A little later than I thought you were going (later 2013), but a decent enough pairing for the setup.
Hope it's doing all you expected from it.

Yeah i was aiming for an older gpu such as 550ti or similar but the market for used older stuff in my state (Croatia) is pretty bad. And i got a good deal for r7 260x. I can use it for other projects later on. Thanks for the help anyways 😀
