Hi,

I am struggling to find the best solution to get internet access in an outdoor shed that I have converted to an office. I currently have a Netgear CM1100 modem and Netgear Nighthawk Mesh Wifi Router in the house and ran a Cat6 direct burial ethernet cable from the house to the shed. From what I can tell, I don't have the option of connecting the cable to the LAN2 port in the CM1100 modem to a second router in the shed. The Nighthawk satellites have an ethernet port that I can connect to, but i want to be able to utilize multiple devices in the shed (computer, printer, speaker, etc) so I would prefer to have wifi access. Any suggestions on how I can achieve this?

Thank you.

Solution
You should be able to plug in the ethernet cable to the port of the Nighthawk and satellite in the shed if it supports some sort of wired backhaul. If not, you can easily just put a switch there and an access point.
Thank you for your reply.

I tried moving one of the Nighthawk satellites to the shed, but it doesn't pick up the signal from the house. If I plug the ethernet cable into the ethernet port of the Nighthawk router and connect it to the satellite in the shed, would that work? Or would I connect it to the CM1100 modem via the LAN2 port?

If I add a new router to the shed, I would just connect it to the modem via the LAN2 port? From what I've seen, the CM1100 modem can only support one wired ethernet connection at a time.

It does support wired backhaul and it worked! I'm up and running now. Thank you!
