Everytime i look on a motherboard placed vertically i don't understand why this is the common way to build a PC case , i don't like the idea of letting the motherboard carry the GPU and the CPU cooler in such way , it looked stressful for me as a PC noob.
Few months have past an I finally got all the parts for my first enthusiasts build , all I have left with is choosing the PC case.
So my main goal with this system set up is longevity , I want it to stay rock solid for at least the next 5 years , and while choosing the PC case with that state of mind I found the CM HAF XB EVO.
Now I am torn between the FD R5 and the HAF XB EVO.
In one side we got the R5 ,the R5 got every thing a man needs from his PC case , the only disadvantage for me is the vertical motherboard mounting.
And on the other side we got the HAF XB EVO , inferior in every aspect to the R5 but have that one big plus in my eyes that is the horizontal motherboard mounting , that to me feel so natural peaceful and stress free.
What are the effects of vertical motherboard mounting in the long run ?
Is there a big benefit in horizontal motherboard mounting in terms of keeping the physical aspects of the motherboard in better shape for the long run ?
There is no reason for me to go with the HAF XB EVO other then the need for me too keep my motherboard for like 5-7 years , the R5 has better everything basically but the horizontal mounting.
TL;DR: lets say you put a motherboard with a GA G1 970 and noctua nh-d15 , ones on vertically mounted motherboard setup ,and ones on a horizontally mounted motherboard setup, what are the benefited of the horizontally mounted motherboard setup in terms of keeping the motherboard components in a good shape ? there is any benefits to horizontal mounting in terms of making the motherboard last longer ?
