Best performing single board computer

I've got a project for school where I have to find an existing product and make improvements (such as performance, price, form factor ect.) and I have chosen to make a NAS/home server.

So my problem is a single board computer, I was going with the raspberry Pi 2 then the 3rd gen one came out and now I'm finding all these other ones (odroid, banana, pine64...) and I don't know which one to go with!
I need atleast 2 USB ports for external storage but from there I would like best performance possible, and must be available in Australia or have a shipping option to Australia
Any inputs or opinions are welcome!

Go with the Pi! I have a model 2B which I use as a media centre, but it will work equally well as a nas/server.

The Pi 3 has 4 usb ports, ethernet, wi-fi, bluetooth...and you'll find lots of each variation of the Pi on ebay.com.au
