Hello folks,
I recently had a motherboard toasted due to a powersurge (overdrawn power actually when i plugged in a room heater taking about 1500 w); so to save my other pc and not to get into this situation again here is what i am planning to do.
Tripp Lite HTSWIVEL6 6-Swivel-Outlet Home Theater Surge Protector 1500 Joules
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000UD66BO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
APC - P6WT 6 Outlet
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0046BGUWG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I will put the APC P6WT to the wall and connect tripp lite protector to it. Then run PCs off of it. I will definitely not be overloading this particular wall socket but i understand now that power surges and fluctuations are a fact that i cant avoid. idea being if power surge happens the APC P6WT will cutoff power to the rest of the chain - and in case it doesnt work - tripp lite will provide one additional layer of protection.
Is it a good plan?
Additionally i bought one of these also; with the plan to keeping it next in line after the tripplite as the next layer before the PC but not sure if i am overdoing it; or if there will be issues introduced with so many things in series.
APC - Back-ups Es 8 Outlet 550VA 120V
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001D76620/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thank you!
