Question Best possible 1080p upgrade from RX 6600?

Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

IMHO, you're in a good spot with 1080p gaming, maybe look at something like a 7700XT. How much have you set aside for a GPU purchase? Where are you located? What is your preferred site for purchase? What sort of refresh rate are you looking for with your display(if you're working your way to an upgrade)?

CPU: Intel Core i3-12100f (soon to be upgraded)
CPU cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE
Motherboard: ASRock B660M Pro RS (bios version 11.06)
Ram: Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z 16GB DDR4-3200
SSD/HDD: Teamgroup MP33 1TB
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600
PSU: MSI MAG A650BN (about 1 year and 3 months old)
Chassis: BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB
OS: Windows 11
Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G3 1080p 144hz

I prefer Newegg, Amazon or Micro Center and I am in the US.

Upgrade CPU first, at 1080p it has 90% impact over GPU.

Depending on budget, I think I’d consider a look at the Intel arc b580 if I were in the budget range. You’re going to be 400 for that 7700xt.

I think new gpus from AMD are rumored to be coming out in early March, so you may consider waiting as well.

But the above poster is correct, your cpu has more to do with fps at 1080p than gpu. Probably out of budget but you might have a look at the and ryzen x3d CPUs as well.

First upgrade the CPU!

I would upgrade the GPU first. Yes, the 12700k is faster, but with your current GPU, you won't see much difference.

With a 3080 the 12100 is about 17% slower.

But said 3080 is over 60% faster, than your 6600.

The 3080 was just as a reference, from the techpowerup review. I don't really think any of those cards are worth spending the money on, to upgrade what you have. The 7600xt is the fastest of the bunch though. In your case, a better CPU probably is the better option, as you are better prepared for a future GPU upgrade then.
