I plan on getting a Acer XR341CK monitor and am wondering what the best card would be to take advantage of the Acers 75Mhz and freesync capabilities.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I would say at least the Fury to take advantage of 75 Hz and freesync. Fury X if you can swing it. However, it does depend on the games you play. If you aren't planning on playing many new titles (TW3, GTA 5, MGS V) and will stick to source games and other previously released titles, you don't really need that much GPU power and could settle with something like the 290X.

Thanks Spag...

I do plan on playing FPS (MGS V, SW Battlefront etc...) Is a fury X better than a R9 390x?

Yes indeed. The Fury X trades blows with the 980 Ti in terms of performance when both are at or near stock clocks. The 390X is a rebranded 290X with higher core clocks.

So add a few frames to the 290X and that is roughly the performance of a 390X. Of course, once you overclock it is possible to get more performance out of a custom card. Fury/Fury X have not been stellar in terms of overclockability but are currently the two top offerings from AMD at the moment.

Also, 3440x1440 is about a 35% increase in pixels over 2560x1440, so you won't want to skimp on graphics. Especially when purchasing such a high-end monitor.
