Best RAM upgrade for ASUS P6T SE

I'm currently running with 6GB RAM (3 x 2GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3), but would like to upgrade to approx. 12gB.

Could someone advise as to which RAM would be compatible, and how I go about installing it (do I just swap the 3 sticks for 3 larger ones?

You can either get an additional 3x2GB kit to supplement your existing RAM, or get three bigger sticks, it's up to you. The three bigger sticks will be more reliable due to slightly reduced demand on the memory controller, and the fact that you don't have to worry about incompatibilities between your current RAM and new RAM. Thank you for the reply. Very useful.

I'm liking the look of the Ripjaw option (partly because they would match the red colour scheme of my EVGA graphics card

I'm a little confused as to why the 6 x 4GB Ripjaw is cheaper than the 3 x 4GB Sniper option. Would you happen to know why that is?
I would definitely rather go with all new sticks (mainly due to the compatibility issues you mention).

One other question:
Is it just a case of taking the old sticks out, putting the news ones in and turning the machine on, or is it more complicated procedure? (I noticed on other threads some talk about BIOS set-up and what-not)

Snipers will be the best bet (the 6x4GB RJs are the more expensive set according to the ads). Will want to set the current DRAM to auto, shutdown, uninstall , install the new in proper slots, then go to BIOS and enable XMP to get to full 1600 - if any problems may need voltage increases to DRAM and/or QPI/VTT

your motherboard supports upto 24 gigs. as you said you want 12gigs so go for (4gb*3sticks).also your motherboard supports upto 2000Mhz DDR3.

This is a tri-channel 1366 mobo that is designed to use older (pre 2011) DDR3 made with low density memory ICs, the Tri X are newer with high density ICs and not compatible
