Hello guys

My uncle bought this laptop:

Dell Inspiron Plus 16" Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 185H - 1920 x 1200 - Windows 11 - 32GB RAM - 2TB SSD

At "Product Details" do click at "View More" to see more Figures about the ports. Mostly about the "Power Jack"
The classic small circle to put and connect the "Laptop Charger"

Now the current "Laptop Charger" is based on USB-C type. Pls see the following product for a better understanding

Dell Laptop Charger 65W Watt USB Type C AC Power Adapter Include Power Cord for Dell XPS 12 9250,XPS 13 9350 9360 9365 9370 9380, LA65NM170 HA65NM170,02YK0F 0M1WCF

Even when the Laptop Charger works in peace with the USB-C type.

Question

  • Could you share your best recommendation at Amazon to buy an "USB-C to Power jack" adapter?

His main concern is if all the adapters are equal, it about to put the connector to the Power Jack adapter

Is the Dell's "Power jack" a standard? It about the circle's diameter to put the connector without problem

Thanks in advance

Just yesterday I was researching a similar issue.

I needed to find the right cable or adapter to charge an electric toothbrush.

The toothbrush has a small round female connector on the bottom to accept the charging device.

I quickly found out that there are at least 6 possible small round male plug-in connectors. All very similar to the naked eye in diameter and length.

I have NO idea which might work with my toothbrush. The laughable manual was no help.

I expect you are in the same situation....you'll be guessing. Unless you can find someone who will give you a link to a SPECIFIC adapter KNOWN to work with that SPECIFIC laptop.

Hello

It didn't come with a charger? / Seems a bit strange to me as well.

The laptop has its charger, it came in the box of course, but the connection to the laptop is through the a USB-C type and not through the common Power Jack. See the second link shared in my first post. And see the connector at the first Figure

Even when is possible use the unique USB-C port to bring power from the charger to the laptop. My uncle wants have free the USB-C port to connect its external SSD.

Therefore he wants buy at Amazon an "USB-C to Power jack" adapter. But again: his main concern is if all the adapters are equal, it about to put the connector to the Power Jack adapter. Is the Dell's "Power jack" a standard? It about the circle's diameter to put the connector without problem

Thanks in advance

the link for the charger is for different dell model

Yes, the second link mentioned in my first post as only for reference purposes. My goal was show the "usb-c" port

Yes that one

Power
100W AC adapter, USB Type-C

Yes, it correct according with the official specs

change change a usbc charger/hub

Do you use that kind of component?, could you share a specific model of your preference?

I thought was more "straight" an adapter from USB-C to Power Jack. Besides:

* Should I be concerned about the "heat" (if is generated ) while the laptop works throughout many hours?

Thank You

I was somewhat surprised to find a laptop with two different charging ports (USB-C and Dell Power Jack) but you learn something new every day.

My uncle wants have free the USB-C port to connect its external SSD.
I solved this on an old laptop with only one USB-C dual-function port using an Inateck SCO1005 adapter.

You plug the flying lead on the Inateck adapter into the USB-C socket on the laptop. Next, you plug the USB-C battery charger lead into the PD (Power Delivery) input on the Inateck adapter. Finally you plug the USB-C portable SSD into the second USB-C socket on the opposite side of the Inateck Adapter (same side as USB-A and VGA ports).

I admit it's not particularly elegant, but it's probably easier than trying to track down a (potentially) mythical USB-C to Dell Power Jack adapter. I would have thought it easier to buy a dedicated Dell charger with a Power Jack output, rather than find a clever adapter.

First image shows battery charger connection to laptop via SCO1005. Second image shows auxiliary ports on SCO1005 for other devices.

Thanks a lot for the reply

Yes, It is my first time with this situation too

My uncle was suggested by a friend to buy a docking station. Thus practically taking the same approach as you suggested. I am going to tell him to call Dell and do a research if exists an official "USB-C to Power Jack" adapter. Just in case
