Question Best SSD for SATA 2?

Hi. I have an HP ProBook 650 G1 laptop with SATA 2 and an HDD. I want to swap the HDD with an SSD.

My question is, is it worth it to buy a "premium" SSD like the Samsung EVO, or would cheaper SSDs run basically the same as the more expensive ones due to them being limited by SATA 2 speeds? Any particular SSD recommendations?

Thanks!

One of the main differences between the SATA SSDs is - What happens if it dies?

Will the company honor their warranty, and give you a new one?
Or will they just blow you off.

Some years ago, I had a 960GB SanDisk SSD die.
Quite suddenly. Dead dead dead.

It was 33 days past the 3 year warranty.
I knew it, they knew it.

They gave me a new one anyway.
The replacement is still going strong, 5 years later.

Swapping out a HDD in favor of a ssd will magically transform your performance.
A very good thing to do.

Worth is something only YOU can determine.
ANY ssd is going to perform well enough.
I would not buy a cheap ssd unless you were truly broke.
The last thing you should want is a troublesome C drive.
A quality ssd like samsung will allow you to move your C drive to a ssd easily using the ssd migration aid.
App and instructions here:
If your laptop does not have a spare port, you can do the copy using a $10 usb to sata adapter cable.
