Question I have an old system in the basement that has really basic specs, but am planning to give it just a little uplift with an RTX 5060 ti 16gb

its got ryzen 7 5800x
32 gb ram 3200mhz
650 watt psu
and the ever hated RTX 4060 ti 8gb

now, I am trying to give it just a little tiny juice to run recent games at 1080p on good settings

whats your thought?

To me, it really isn't a huge upgrade for 1080p gaming.

I fully understand that we are talking about different systems.

Go for it, if you are so inclined.

thanks, I was just really hoping this is not something stupid that I am doing, I do talk to people who knows this stuff and some of them says the 50 series gpu's can only be optimized if you are using an AM5 mobo, and that if I go through it, it will be a waste of money because I probably only gonna get a few frames

and other's says its fine

the 5060 ti is actually affordable and I got extra cash to burn this holiday just for this set specifically

again, take note, this is not my main gaming pc, its upstairs running 5900x at 4070 super

but still, I want to know if its worth it :)
The performance uplift wont be much, maybe only 15-20%, so in my opinion, the cost of the 5060 TI 16GB at $430-500 would be better put toward a $550-630 5070 or RX 9070 16GB, with the same (or slightly better raster with 9070) performance to the 4070 Super or around 35-40% uplift from the 4060 TI 8GB. Both systems would be pretty much identical in performance at that point.
