I was just wondering about what Motherboard would offer me the best value and features
I am set on the AMD FX Chips, either a 8320,50 or even 70.

I have done some research but i get lost when it comes to motherboards and what they can offer me, its the only part i am having trouble with.

This looks like it would suit every need, especially if i wanted to Overclock in the future : Asus Sabertooth 990FX
But its quite expensive and i am not sure if its just overkill.

I have seen Mobo's for around £30 but they look basic and cheap, some Mid range Mobo's around £50 - £80 look decent, then their are the High end Mobo's £90 - £150 that look sweet but do they offer any noticeable and clear advantage.

Thanks :pt1cable:

Thanks, I was looking at that board.

Just spent a few mins reading up about it. It looks like a solid board, practically has every feature i need and could use plus it looks pretty sweet. Functional and Stylish, that is a killer Kombo. 😀

Is their much difference between the 970 & 990 boards?

What do you need your computer for?

If you need it for gaming the best AMD :) combo would be:

If its not a build mainly for gaming , you can go with

1 pound difference between those builds, so their cost is not a reason to buy the second one.

Thanks, that table is very helpful. Looks like the MSI 970 Gaming covers everything and its well priced. I will probs go with that Mobo.

Another quick question, is their a need for any more than 4GB of RAM?

Fair enough, What RAM would you suggest
So many to choose from

1.http://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-Series-1866MHz-Memory-Module/dp/B00J8E91T0/ref=zg_bs_430511031_1

The Hyper-X look good and they are on offer at the minute on Amazon.

The MSI 970 gaming has ok vram so you can overclock quite well, both SLI and Crossfire support... yeah i think this is the best option out there for the money.
For the ram, most people go with 8 gigs. 4GB is usable but may limit you in certain applications.

Sweet, if the RAM in my old desktop is DDR3, il just use that until i get new RAM.

otherwise i have a pretty good idea on what i will use to build my first PC. FX 8320, MSi 970 Gaming, Any 2x4GB 1600hz+

I can salvage my 5850, she still has life in her. the CPU in my current rig holds it back so much. Case and fans wont be an issue, i have some in mind. SSD i can pick up cheap now and i can just use the HDD from my current rig. Will be a bit of a Frankenstein Rig.lol

Only thing i need to be certain about is the Power Supply, I dont want to cheap out and then put the rest of the PC at risk.

Any recomendations? its roughly going to be 355W but with fans and other things maybe higher.
