What is the best Video card i can find for gaming for the ASUS A8V Deluxe ?
I think i want an AGP video card, but on newegg i see AGP 2x, 4x and 8x
boards and i dont know what the means or what i should get. I dont need TV
out and all that stuff, but i do plan on getting an LCD monitor soon, right
now i have a CRT monitor.

You want an 8x card.
I have the BFG 6800 OC but there are cards that are a lot more expensive.
You choices could be:
ATI X800 - approx - $600 Canadian.
ATI 9800 Pro - Approx $290 Canadian
BFG 6800 GT - Approx - $600 Canadian
BFG 6800 OC - Approx - $385 Canadian.

The BFG 6800 OC has fantastic video and graphics for the price - A lot
better than the ATI 9800 Pro.

There is an article here. It would have been better if several
games had been listed here, for comparison purposes, as the
relative merits of the cards can change, depending on the game
being played. There are other reviews on the site, like when the
cards were introduced, that have more raw data. This will give you
an idea of why the cards are priced the way they are.

In terms of brands, either check the customer reviews for products
on the Newegg site, or do some Googling, as some brands that you can
get for a few bucks less, might use inferior memory. There have been
batches of cards that have died in three weeks of use, so there can
be quality issues with some of them. This does not mean that the
higher prices of some brands are justifiable - it means you should
try to read as much as you can about the experiences of others,
before spending big dollars on a high end card.

No problems at all. Very fast and totally stable. Runs a lot cooler than my
old XP 2500+.
