Question Best way to connect dual monitors

Hiya, I'm building a new PC and will be using two monitors and wonder the best way to connect them to the PC to enable them both to have full and equal functionality. Any advice is appreciated!

Ideal situation is attach both by Display Port to the GPU, and they should both have same abilities.

if you get a 3070, it will have enough ports to run both monitors. Unless you running 8k monitors, it should be able to run both at full.

In general:

New PC specs?

Make and model monitors? Same make and model?

Read the GPU's User Guide/Manual. Also read the monitors' respective manuals.

What options are available? Will the build support all of those options?

If necessary:

Right click an open area of the desktop to access the GPU's control panel. Learn what options and configuration settings are available.

Use "WIN " + "P" to familiarize yourself with dual display "PROJECT" options.

Start simple.

Get the PC/GPU, monitors/display to all first work at the default settings. No overclocking etc. Then, go one step at a time towards the required, desired end configuration.

Not a "best way" answer per se.

However, taking a close look at everything beforehand may save you some time, effort, and frustration if all does not work as required.

That's great, thanks. Is there a benefit to connecting them both to display ports, or one to a display port and the other to HDMI? I also came across 'daisy-chain' monitor set-ups, is there any pros/cons to this other than using less cables/cables being less messy?

DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 can daisy chain DisplayPort monitors up to 4K resolution, though only two of them at the highest resolution and only at 60Hz (even though DisplayPort does support higher refresh rates). They could do up to six 1080p daisy chain monitors, however.

if the monitors are faster than 60hz you best use 2 cables.

as for HDMI vs DP, I would have to dig. What monitors are you going to use?

if monitor refresh rate is faster than 144 then you need to use DP

Thanks for your help and for the link, I'll have a look at it. The monitors I will be using are the Dell 24'' Monitor - P2419H and the 23.8'' Chillblast 24FHD75V1 FHD IPS Gaming Monitor

1080p, you can use either. its up to you. I only suggested DP as both cables would be the same, I don't think it would have any significant difference otherwise.

You need do nothing special.
Connect them to your pc as you wish.
Usually displyport is best since it can be higher speed than hdmi.
Even dvi is ok. Avoid analog vga if possible.

Once connected, right click on your desktop to access windows display settings.
You can identify the monitors and set individual settings such as resolution and refresh rate.
Likely the best is to select extend these displays.
You can drag the images to arrange them to reflect the physical arrangement and orientation on your desk.
You can select either as your primary monitor.
