Have a 4 TB HDD ,about close to 2 TB in Files that I need to recover.Think the HDD is a faulty one/
Trying to use Kroll Ontrack Enterprise to recover, but these kind of software usually have to scan the entire
HDD before recovery.
Is there a way to recover like 500 GB at one time,so that the scanning of the HDD does not take half a day?

Solution
No.
Those things go sector by sector, not file by file.
A particular file may exist partly in this 500GB portion, and partly in a different 500GB portion.
Just let it run.

And feel lucky if you get some/most/all of it back. File recovery is always hit or miss.

Solution
Just tryin to get close to 2 TB back before tossing it back and doing a RMA with Seagate, since it is still in warranty .

Just wanted a a quicker metod or a betetr software to do the job- and more suggestion will be greatly appreciated?

Whatever you have running, just let it run. The more you mess with it, the less likely to get anything from it.
