So i just got one more kingston hyperx 3k 120gb and already have one with os and programs installed.
I have 2 other regular drives for files and temp which i backup into 2 external drives
Im trying to have the second hyperx be used to mirror same os install on first drive in case it fails while being able to install different games on it from first one as im running out of room
Is this possible, if so how??
Any other suggestions on what to do with these drives?
Thanks

AFAIK there is no way to create the hybrid raid setup you described. Your drives will either be mirrored or they won't be. My advice would be to have a nightly system state and boot drive image made to one of your externals using Windows Backup and then just use your 2nd SSD as a standalone drive for installing games.

Alternately you can make a striped raid (raid 0), reinstall windows and have a total capacity of 240gb on your boot drive. The only issues there are the you'll have to reload your OS and that if one drive dies, your raid is jacked. I'd go with the first option I suggested.

If you have two SSDs then I would be using the first one for the Os and a few games or programs and the second SSD for the rest of the games and programs and leave the backup and mirror to the conventional drive. It would be a waste to use the second SSD as a kind of backup or image mirroring th OS drive since the only time it wouyld be used is in the event of a drive failure of the primary drive. I would want to get use out of it by putting all the things I can't fit on the primary drive and still get the benefit of a fast drive.

Yeah I'd do the same. Just use the second one as an extension. SSD's are fast enough, for practical applications you really don't need to go through reinstalling and setting up RAID and no need to have one as a backup, it'll be much cheaper to backup to a HDD.

Thanks guys sounds like a plan. Ive been keeping my user and temp folders as well on a storage drive. I will just make sure to regularly backup with acronis to one of my storage drives since I already used with good results.
Now to find a way to rig this machine to fit it since im out of room and dont want to place it on top of another drive or I will just use the small 250gb drive externally instead to backup my least imporant files/ or to constantly stream most played media on tv
