Going solo is just not my thing. Why would I sit alone in a dark basement playing with myself when I could sit in a dark basement playing with other people...

Wait, what?

The best positive aspect of every Elder Scrools game since morrowind is MOD capabilities. Enter into the MMO world and you would forsake all that content. I for one would hate if the elder scrool where to go into MMO playability. And i agree with shening, give it coop mods.

I beg to differ.

The original Everquest had great lore and storyline. This was possible because the player had to actually go along with the dialogue as opposed to clicking on "accept" and then having a guide/map on what do do... EQ at least got you involved a bit...

I'm currently playing The Witcher 2, which is awesome btw, and looking for a new RPG to play when I'm done with it. I might just try Elder Scrolls. Which one should I start with? I'm a Bioware fan. How does this compare with NWN and DA?

I believe a multiplayer mod was developed for the PC version of Oblivion. It will just be a matter of time before it is done with Skyrim. I just wish it could have been done with Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

There are many mods for leveling. I played Oblivion with an auto-leveler mod, and it was nice.

He added that certain features seen in Oblivion were scaled back in Skyrim, such as reducing the number of large cities from nine to five. Some of the skills have also been scaled back.
That is kind of sad. I was hoping to see even more large cities. Also, the skills should be expanded, not diminished. Oh well, I'm not going to hold those things against the game if they've added a ton of other awesome content. I've been looking forward to this game since for a long time now.

As for making an MM0, there are probably 20+ fantasy MMOs on the market and no other great fantasy single player series being made. I don't play any of the MMOs but I've played hundreds of hours of Morrowind/Oblivion. Many of us just don't want to play MMOs. As somebody mentioned above, I want to be the hero and I want my actions to affect the world.

While I'd love to be able to play co-op, if that meant that they'd cut out other content then don't bother. Hopefully the modding community will add it in.

I for one like that there are still single player RPG's. While MMORPG's have a place, I just wish there were single player RPG's as well.

I also hope they game play is more like Morrowind than Oblivion. Particularly when it pertains to magic weapons. I really disliked that a melee character had to recharge his weapons. That just did not make a lot of sense to me.

I also hope they change they way you earn attributes. No matter how you level, you should be able to choose the same number of attribute points to use rather than being scaled based on how much you used certain skills.

I am SO glad it's not an MMO or else I never would have purchased any of the games. And he's right I want to be the hero.

Two things I would like would be COOP or have the ability to have multiple characters play at the same time.

No, SWTOR has some pretty great storylines. Literally, you can do your own thing in that game. You just get more out of it if friends help tag along. Stick to the main quests though because side quests get very boring.

MMO's could be more like solo RPG's and they'd rock... but then you'd finish and stop playing so they have to keep you hooked by making you farm ad-nauseum and do 50 repetitive fetch it quests to have a 10% chance of getting that cool kit you've just GOT to have to be competitive in PvP.

Excited about this title, but still feeling it won't reach its full potential thanks to the storage limitations on a certain platform. After launch, and some time, hopefully we'll see that potential added to the pc version.

Nooo, skills should advance based on how much they're used. If you want to increase some skills that you didn't use, go to a trainer for that skill.

And that is why I love Bethesda games. That's why I continue to buy their games on reputation alone.

LAN based multiplayer I could deal with, so long as SP characters could be used in MP. But anything that forces me online is a deal breaker.

If this series ever went MMO, I would be done. I deal with way too many obnoxious people in my real life. The last thing I want to do when I get home is deal with more obnoxious people ruining my game experience.

I said attributes, I did not say skills. I like the skill progression, or at least think it works. The attributes on the other hand was garbage.

"The fifth installment, Skyrim, is on the verge of publication, and it's sticking to its single-player role-playing roots despite being bigger than Oblivion and Morrowind. Why? Because the team prefers the single-player role-playing model."
Thank You Bethesda, will buy it day one for your efforts too. (PC)
