Better, faster memory card readers

Are there easily identifiable classes of memory card _readers_ that we should be aware of, so that we buy only the faster models, when that is a priority?

Well, if you're looking to read high-capacity and high-speed SD cards, look for readers that support SDHCs (Secure Digital High Capacity). Not sure what you need to look for other memory card types though.
