Solution
Do you have a pc shop nearby or do you have a way to borrow a working gpu to test?
If gpu issue is confirmed, then buy a 750ti/1030/1050 to replace and you can be done with it.
I will suggest below build later if gpu is not the issue:

uk and not sure tbf I don't game a lot just had enough of the random freezes I get with this system now so time to move on or upgrade.

bear in mind I only do some basic dual boxing not extreme gaming

been there done that got the tshirt its common with this gfx card the asus one has had driver/bios issues since its launch.

hence why I first asked if new gfx is worth it or new system if its a system what you recommend for around £500 as a budget either case or laptop

System freezes are probably driver related. Have you updated the BIOS and all AMD related software? MSI AM3 and AM3+ boards can be a real pain with stability. Also with most of the 260x and 270x cards the fans tend to be sleeved and warp which leads to early faluire especially if it's from Saphire and MSI. As far as buying a new 1050 ti or 1060 they are still overpriced by $80+ on every model and are being replaced this year. I would recommend waiting and possible looking at upgrading your entire system at the same time.

been there and done it done bios after bios with that gfx card it runs great for times then randomly decides to blue screen its just a annoyance more than anything.

I'm in no rush if there are newer cards due out in coming few months.

just in 2 minds about laptop or not

I agree with the above. Don't buy a new GPU right now unless you are pulling your hair out. If you are gaming at 1080p a 1060 (6GB) would be a huge boost but again, your chipset is outdated and it will bottleneck that GPU. It's not even as fast as an i5 3570K. Bulldozer was a big AMD fail.

Focus your attention on upgrading your chipset then worry about the GPU. FYI, Nvidia's upcoming Volta is not expected out before the end of summer, so you have many months of waiting. But yes, buying a current nearly two year old Pascal GTX 10xx series which are way overpriced would probably be the dumbest thing anyone can do right now and they'll have severe buyer's remorse in six months.

Reuse your storage. You may reuse psu if you want to, but I will get a new one since cm450 is not that great. The IGPU comes with the CPU is on par with GTX 1030 and you can drop in beefier GPU later on if you want to.

For the MB, if it doesn't boot -> old BIOS, just contact AMD and they will send you an old chip to boot and update the BIOS, then drop in the new CPU :)
