Between a budget Asus or Lenovo laptop, which one would you choose in terms of reliability?

Hi everyone,
I want to buy a roughly 1000$ gaming laptop, and my mother is an Asus "supporter"(she trusts Asus a lot in terms of quality and performance) but please take a quick look at this model:

https://www.amazon.com/FX502VM-Gaming-Laptop-NVIDIA-i5-6300HQ/dp/B01LXO0PO2

The reviews are horrifying, a lot of people said the laptop died out within a few months!

The idea is, between a Lenovo legion and a rog or this model, which one would last longer? Are Lenovos better than Asus with their cooling system? Which brand made you the most problems? I don't want technical details, but YOUR OWN experience with their products. I don't want the laptop to burn within 2 years or so...Are Asus really that trusty, good quality company anymore? Or should I give Lenovo a better chance?
(p.s: I will buy the product from my home country, but I looked at amazon for reviews and now I am scared. Oh, and I apologize if I picked the wrong category, I am new here...)

Have a Lenovo laptop here. 18 months old. Bought for Internet access, e-mail and general app stuff. Made a point of getting an SSD on it for fast booting. Works fine. Only problems encountered have been Windows 10 productivity-related. No experience of Asus laptops.

(I appreciate that's not a gaming review, but it might help - I am not a proponent of gaming on laptops per se. It's a mobile device. #CanOfWormsDebate)

I can't say to much about Lenovo either way but ASUS is my "go to" brand. I have had very good luck with ASUS....I think they make quality stuff (at least the stuff I have bought from them). I have had multiple ASUS MBS and multiple ASUS graphics cards and I've never had a hickup.
