so i recently upgraded my motherboard to a asus maximus 9 hero, and my psu to a 1200w corsair 1200i, thinking those were the issues with my pc.
old build: ekwb a240gx2(for the 2nds gpu and rad), 3tb HDD, 480gb transcend ssd, adata 256 m.2, gigabyte a170xp-sli mobo, 1080ti FE in SLI (with HB bridge), 32gb patrion viper DDR$ @ 2400mhz, i7 6700k, and a 850w thermaltake rgb toughpower psu(now you can see why i upped the psu)
before i put in the ek waterblocks, i tested the SLI, works FANTASTIC, then i installed the blocks, leak tested and so on, after the test the sli would not work (massive stuttering causing game crashes). i ran single card until ek and nvidia recommended me to swap the cards (also noticed a small leak on the resivoir of the pump but still had paper towels in place, drained the loop nothing got wet (was sitting on bottom of case and surrounded by paper towels still), swapped em, refilled etc, same issue just now the new alpha card would not display video.
then the 2nd pump leaked same spot(outlet port of the res but still no damage to components), contacted ek they recommend a RMA(story for later)
at this point the computer wont even post, kept getting "enter bootable media"
so i figured its time to up the psu right? running 8 fans, a 6700k, AND 2 1080tis. bought a new motherboard(the asus maximus hero 9) since my buddy thinks the mobo may have died as bad luck. installed everything, and kept the leaking pump outsinde the case, and behold IT WORKED!!
temps were solid, ran perfect (minus sli of course and the pump leak that i contained)
hour after testing it was still great, cpu under 34c, gpus both under 40c..i was happy she was finally working again after 3 weeks of problems.
so i load into fortnight to get some gaming in, 50 minutes of solid temps, and BAM hits 86c (from 55c) massive spike. i immediatly shut down, unplug, and felt the fittings that were super hot.checked the tubes, no leaks but still hot.
NOW here i am 3 days later and she wont post, go into bios, nothing. i would appreciate any help.
i THINK that the gpu(s) may be faulty or have faulty pins and possibly fried both boards. i am going to remove everything ek and suck it up as a loss for the price, and put stock back on the gpus and test each card byitself to hopefully narrow down if its a specific card. but need feedback. invested too much into this thus far and super stressed, just want her working.
thanks
