Oh and I have a Dell s2209w @60hz monitor, will I experience bad screen tearing in games if I have over 60 fps without v sync on?

how far will you oc the 2500k?

2 560 ti's in cf beat out a single 580 and are cheaper. 6950 cf is only a bit more and contends with gtx 570 sli so you should get that.

this psu 155$- http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMPSU-850HX-850-Watt-Professional-Certified/dp/B0029F21LA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308028415&sr=8-1

that case does not have good airflow try this one 120$- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146067&cm_re=nzxt_phantom-_-11-146-067-_-Product

ssd 220$- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442&cm_re=crucial_m4-_-20-148-442-_-Product this one is cheaper and faster go figure

this ram is better- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428&cm_re=gskill_ddr3_1600_8gb-_-20-231-428-_-Product

motherboard- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128478&cm_re=gigabyte_p67-_-13-128-478-_-Product that motherboard is a little overkill. also look into the asrock p67 extreme6

over 60 fps will not mess up your picture.

I am new to OC'ing but I heard the 2500k is fairly easy to overclock. I would probably be thinking around 4.5 to 4.8 Ghz? The reason I wanted the 580 SC was because it would provide me an upgrade path later on down the road. I am shopping at NCIX.com so the prices are a little bit different and the Intel SSD is actually cheaper than the Crucial SSD.
As for the case It actually does have adequate airflow, maybe not the best, but I like everything about it and it would do me well. Are you sure the RAM is better? It is the same model # and timings so I don't see how it would be any better. I like your idea for the motherboard though it could save me some cash. If it's not any trouble do you know any key differences between the Gigabyte Z68X-UD5-B3, and the GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD4-B3?

Thanks for your input :D

I'm also replacing the 200MM fan at the top of the case as well as the h70 fans with 4 120MM Coolermaster R4-L2R 120MM Green case fan so I think that will help the cooling and the noise levels with the case.

gskill ram is the best
the scythe mugen 2 is cheaper and will easily handle a 4.8 ghz oc. water cooling is overrated
cooler master psu's are not that good make sure to go with a corsair or xfx psu
how long do you think you will wait until you sli? and what is your resolution?
there is really not many differences between the 2 boards except one is a z68 which allow for ssd caching (which isnt that great raid 0 can compete with it) and it allows you to use the i5 2500k's integrated gpu which you wont use since you have a discrete gpu. the physical layout of the board is preatty similar but the ud5 has like 2 more sata 3 ports (there is already 4 and no need for any more).

for 1080p 2 580's are way overkill and you are going to be pissed that you just spent 1000$ on gpu's when all you need to spend is 500$. save the extra 500$ for gpu's 2 years down the line that will absolutely kill 2 580's. the gtx 560 ti's are a great deal so are the 6950's. and then downgrade to an hx 750 psu

even for 2 monitors 6950 cf will do fine. usually if you are gaming you use an odd number of monitors so you dont have a split right in the middle of the screen. and for gaming with 3 monitors the 6970 and later cf is the best deal. a slightly oc'd 6970 cf runs on par with gtx 580 sli.

If you're planning on multi-monitor (2-3) AMD's eyefinity will be better, as their cards have more memory as standard than Nvidia equivalents. The only reason you'd go for Nvidia is for the 3D vision (which is something you may want).

My advice for you is to get a 6970 to start with, and then when you're getting more monitors, get a second 6970 in crossfire.

why do people feel the urgent need to upgrade for a game months in advance of its release date, and long before its system requirements are known? you gonna get bummed out if they delay the game to 2012 when your new rig will be dated by then lol

i dont think it's really about doing the doing the upgrading right away. More of just knowing what it's going to take and planning for the upgrade and just saving the money for it between now and then. You are right though...i could just see the flames on the boards if it were to get delayed and the people who have already done the upgrade this far out from the release

Yeah really the games been three years in production and they just put out the release date. Pre orders must be racking up and on top of that they're selling it days before MW3 I believe. They would be the stupidest company in the world to have to delay it after all that. And DICE has clearly proven themselves has a studio with some brains

One big thing is that since it will not just be a console to pc port it will perform a bit better than you would expect. DICE will optimize the game as much as possible. Supposedly it was said that if you can run Bad Company 2 in Dx11 with no issues you'll be able to run Battlefield 3 fine. (I would assume on high rather than maxed out)

nothing wrong with that, just keep in mind that hardware changes fast. The new generation of GPUs from Nvidia and AMD may come around the same time (late 2011 I believe) and they should vastly outperform anything around now. System requirements are usually released like 1-3 months before the game`s release date, so that should not be too far from now, so wait at least until then before planning your rig. Right now any advice anyone gives you is pure speculation
