I have:

Mother board:
Asus Rampage 3 formula (all water with no air heat sinks)

CPU:
intel i7 950 over clock 4.4 (water)

Ram:
Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D 8-8-8-24 (6 sticks total 12G) running at 1600 Hz

Graphics cards:
Two R9 290X in CrossFireX mode. (water)

Power supply:
Antec 1200 watt High current pro. (continuous power)

OS:
Windows 7 64 bit. (Fresh install)

Hard drive:
840PRO 256GB (Model: MZ-7PD256)

Monitors:
BenQ (Model: XL2720-B) Running at 120Hz Three of them running on CrossFireX with the resolution 5870 X 1080

Game:
When I run BF4 I am getting a low fps of 48 and a high of 75. It hangs around 50 to 60 fps.

I have read until my eyes blead and tried so many different ideas. I have dropped my quality in bf4 to low. and I get these fps. Is this what I should expect from this system? Allot of money for bad fps.

Please post your opinions and any advice that comes to your minds. I am stumped.

P.S. The photo I have that is under my name is my old rig. But a very simular water cooling system. The new system has a car radiator outside with a box fan blowing through it and a .6 hp continuous duty water pump. The water is staying COLD this time of year. So if you touch my water blocks they are ice cold.

I really would love to hear everyone's opinion and advice.

Enjoy! The 5820k would be my choice also if I did a new build for my self now! :)

As I said, way over the top for gaming, but a great system.

Sounds good, I assume you will water cool the 4790k also as the stock cooler can barely cope.

Yep, My water so far cause by winter season is staying at 40F.

Thanks for this help. I am going to order the parts now.

P.S. I believe you already answered this question indirectly. Will this system max out my two r9 290x gpu cards if need be. Or will by board and cpu become the choke again.

GA-Z97X-Gaming3 (nextwarehouse.com) pt#1553000 for $133
i7 4790K (Tiger Direct.com) for $300
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg)

Recomended by RobCrezz.

Thanks for all your help.

Purchasing the hardware now.

Taking apart my computer and selling parts. :)

The shipping might cost a boat load. I have a buyer for this combination: $200

If you don't mind the shipping...

Hey, you helped me so much and thank you. Now I am just waiting for the parts to be delivered.

I have: (for sale) Note: all because of you. Cool.
A8N32 Sli Delux mother board
Rampage 3 formula
i7 950
Corsair TR3X6g1600C8D (6sticks 2gb each) total 12 gb.

Hi again. I canceled my order for the hardware. I found that the board only has one 3.0 pci-e 16 slot. I would like two 3.0 pci-e 16 slots. I would like to run in 16 in both slots. This way I can run both of the R9 290X gpu cards in 16 mode.

I did buy the cpu: core i7-4790K
I did buy: Corsair Vengeance pro 16GB ddr3 2400 MHz

Have any direction for the mother board. I am looking but you have proven to be the man.

2x 16 is a waste of time on Z97 man, the CPU only has 16 lanes. But thats fine running one at 8x on pci-e 3.0 wont be a problem or any kind of performance limit, they just dont saturate the bus. You can get some Z97 boards that use a plx chip to get additional lanes, but ultimately you dont get any additional bandwidth as it just acts like a network switch and still has just the 16 lanes to the CPU.

If you really want more lanes, then the only real way to go is to X99 with a 5820k (28 lanes), or 5930k (40 lanes), but then you will need to get DDR4 ram also.

Ok, got it. I have been studying allot tonight. I am catching up with the times of computer again. I have been studying since I started talking with you. I chose to buy:

Intel Core i7 I7-5820K 3.3 GHz 6-core Processor - Intel Boxed - LGA2011 Socket
$372.00
ebay

MSI X99S SLI PLUS LGA2011-V3/INTEL X99/DDR4/ 3-WAY CROSSFIREX & 3-WAY SLI/ SATA3 & USB 3.0/ M.2 & SATA EXPRESS/ A & BBE/ ATX MOTHERBOARD
$217.00
SuperBiiz

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4-19200) Desktop Memory Model BLS4K4G4D240FSA
$198.49
Newegg.

So now time will tell. I want to seriously say thank you for your help and inspiring me to get back into understanding what it takes to get everything to match. The only thing I think I over did was build the computer overkill vs. the graphics cards. If I understood you correctly the first system I was going to buy was going to be able to max out the gpu's and anything more would be a waste. Well, I went $250.00 more than I needed to and $287.00 over what I set my budget out to be.

The good news is I have enough stuff laying around to sell and return about $580.00 so my little adventure cost about $207 out of pocket.

Thanks so much.

P.S. Want some spare computer parts? :bounce:

Hi GrandMaster,

I want to thank you for your help and inspiring me to get back into computer building. I started to study and re spark all those old memory cells that contained all that outdated knowledge. I was not long after that I was able to start building a balanced system asking RobCrezz for confirmation of the choices I was making. In the end it looks like the new system is way over kill but I am sure having fun doing it. Brings back my old days. Without yours (GrandMaster) and RobCrezz I would just be traveling in a very wasteful and expensive direction.

Thanks again.
