Found a pre-built gaming PC (since I'm not very comfortable with building my own) and was wondering how it would do playing BF4 and other games of the sort. I can also upgrade some of the components. This was around 1000$ dollars
Mobo:ASUS H61M
Intel Core i7 3770 8x3.9GHz Turbo
8Go DDR3-1600 Kingston
WD 1000Go SATA3
ATI Radeon R9 270X 2Go HDMI
Tatoo fire 685W case

Really? I didn't realize it would be that good

Yeah, there is also a youtube video of one playing BF4 with the same GPU and CPU (although with the one that can be unlocked for overclocking).
This will do great.

This a great build. But for 1000$, you could get something better in my opinion.

- If it's only for gaming, you won't need a Core i7. A Core i5 would be more than enough to run games.

- Since you don't have a K-version CPU and a Z87 board, you won't be able to do overclocking in the future if you need it.

- Also, your build miss an heatsink. I recommend you pick a better CPU cooler than the stock one from Intel because it is cheap and don't performs well. For around 30-40$, the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO would be great.

- The case is a personnal choice but make sure it has good airflow and cable management options. A quality case is important. I generally recommend Corsair or Fractal Design cases. Go take a look !

If you have questions, feel free to ask. Have fun with this computer !

I don't know what is Mantle either. Actally, NVIDIA have a software called GeForce Experience that optimize the settings of your games for optimal performances. It also keeps your drivers up to date.

I did a quick research about Mantle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantle_(API)

that really helped alot

one last question: earlier you said that the intel i7 processer wasn't necessary and that a i5 would be a better choice. How much of a drop-off would there be, if any

In games, you won't see any difference in the framerates between a Core i7 and a Core i5. The Core i7 is better if you plan to do more intensive tasks than gaming because of hyperthreading.

My advice: pick a Core i5 4670K and with the money you saved on the CPU, pick a Z87 board.
