So,
I have a GTX 1070 and i7 6700 with 16GB of DDR4, i tried medium, high and ultra settings at 2560x1080p (ultrawide) i cant seem to get over 150 FPS in any setting.. is 150 FPS the max FPS supported or is there something limiting the FPS?? i tried to google it but cant seem to find any answer.

Solution

Do you have some syncing system turned on in your settings or on your monitor? (V-Sync, G-Sync, Free-Sync?) Often times those will limit your FPS, but why do you need more than 150 FPS in the first place? That's beyond good.

The amount of calculations/second your machine can do is the limit (And monitor refresh rate can lower it) The number displayed for FPS isn't capped as far as i'm aware. Why do you need more than 150FPS anyway; the human eye can't even comprehend past 60FPS. Any more than 60 is just for a more "smooth" experience. Any more than 120, well, thats just overkill.

i have Fast-Sync enabled but that wont limit my FPS, my friend has a 1080 and he can get over 200 fps sometiimes @1080p settings at ultra..and yea i know 150 FPS is very good, i just wanna know the FPS limit in BF4.. also frametime lowers the higher the fps gets, so less input lag i guess

First did you see your friend get 200fps? Second, does your friend have the same processor/memory/hardware config as you do?

He has an i7 6700K not oced, and i mentioned he has a gtx 1080, same amount of RAM, im not concerned about his fps, as i have already asked, what i really wanted to know is the maximum fps a pc can theoritically achieve in bf4

Theoretically a basically infinite FPS could be achieved in BF4. All we need is the right Bio/Quantum computer to do it.

I'm just saying...you can't automatically jump to the conclusion that 'something is limiting', if you can't do more than 150fps in a reasonably demanding game.
The only 'limit' might be your hardware.

Since you friend can apparently see 200fps, that would lead one to believe that there is not a hard limit at 150.

Comparing your system's performance with a GTX 1070 when he has a GTX 1080 is going to be apples-to-oranges. The GTX 1080 is a more powerful card, by about 25% or so depending on the game. So, if he's getting 200FPS, I'm not surprised that you can "only" get 150FPS.

allright.. so after some digging, i found out that NV Fast Sync basically caps the FPS to double your monitor refresh rate im using a 75Hz monitor and hence the 150 FPS unless i change the max pre rendered frames above 1, and the default FPS cap set by EA/DICE is 200.. after disabling FS and typing in "Gametime.maxvariablefps 500" i basically set my FPS cap to 500, i can finally get around 240-250 FPS at low settings, 180-190 at Ultra (Test Range Map only).. and hence, a quantum/bio Computer isnt needed

So, i was wrong about NV FS, it limits your FPS to double the refresh rate of your monitor, im at 75Hz so my FPS is capped to 150, maybe new drivers have this added, wasnt there before.. and thanks

Where did you type that in exactly?

open the command console by pressing the grave accent buttor " ` " just before the 1 num key and enter it
