Big difference between 970 and 990fx?

My motherboard broke a few months ago, and i am looking to buy a new one. I currently have the AMD FX-6350, but i want a motherboard that is future proof so i can upgrade my CPU to an FX 8300. I was wondering if there's a big difference between 970 and 990FX, and if i should buy the MSI 970 gaming or a 990 fx board

I'd get a 990 board. Much better chipset and more OC'able.

EDIT:
If you OC that 6350, you'll have a really decent gaming comp. Get a 990 board and OC the 6350 and see. If still not satisfied, upgrade the CPU.

The MSI 970 Gaming is decent and it can run DUAL cards.
