Ok i have a ATI all in wonder 9700 pro. Im running windows XP pro edition, with 1 gig of ddr 3300 ram. I am having major problems with my video card. It crashes atleast 6-8 times a day. The crashes can be different, sometimes the screen with go black. When that happens the power light on my monitor goes to yellow (which is standby) but when i turn it on and off (my monitor) it says there is no connection. The next problem is VPU, the screen will freeze for about 10-15 seconds. After that a message will come up saying it couldnt restart the VPU or something to that extent. The resolution is changed down to the lowest. The last type of crash is where the screen just gets all messed up and freezes but doesnt come out of the freeze at all.
With the drivers. Ive had this card since around october. It has never given me problems until about janurary. Ive updated the grapahics drivers, all the way to the recent one from this month. Then i went back to the OLD drivers from november, but that didnt help either. It seems to have increased! I have a huge fan to cool it off, but that doesnt seem to be the problem either!
Can anyone help me? I hope so thanks! If you need anything else, then tell. Thanks

what is your psu like? sounds like a power supply problem or possibly a memory problem, have you run memtest? list your system specs so we can have a better idea of what is going on.....

I almost agree with allanon, but this didn't start happening from day 1. I think you have a video card that is ready to die. I think that the VPU (video processor unit) that it talks about is the video card GPU chip.

The very first thing to do is to go out and pick up or borrow (prefer) another video card. Or maybe you have an old one around. Install that and see if the problem goes away. Remember to change drivers as well as the card. You've been swapping drivers, so you know how that goes. If the problem is gone, then you need a new card. If it's only been in since October, you might still be under warrantee, but I wouldn't waste any time checking this out.

Now, if the old card does the same thing, THEN start worrying about your PS or something on the mobo.
