[SOLVED] BIOS bricked, even after CMOS reset

Hi,

I was having various issues and a bios update was suggested. I downloaded the latest for my motherboard Asus P8P67le and unzipped it to a flash drive. Rebooted to bios, opened the update utility, saw a list of all my drives (important for later), selected the flash drive, and the bios update file. Update seemed to go fine and it asked me to reset.

Upon reset I got no POST, just straight back to the bios update tool with the error "Reading Failed!" displayed. I was able to navigate using keyboard but moving mouse brought up the error again (see http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3066723/enter-bios-cmos-reset.html for further info).

Where my case differs from the above is that I now only see 1 partition in the bios update tool (not the one that has the bus update). All other partitions including all flash drives are missing.

I then did a cmos reset (both methods, battery out and jumper short). Upon boot I got a POST screen identifying some drives, ram, USB devices (got my hopes up here). It asked me to hit x to get into bios so I did and viola....... Back to the update utility and Reading Failed! And still only seeing 1 partition (I don't have another machine handy to use to move the bios update to this partition.)

Tearing my hair out a bit here. No idea how to proceed other than buying new gear which I am loathe to do.

Any tips appreciated!

Cheers

Solution
The easiest and cheapest way would be to ask someone to copy the needed file to the detected partition. Another option would be to order a BIOS chip on ebay and replace the board's one.
