Hello,

I have recently installed a 2tb seagate st2000dm001 sata 3 into my asus maximus VII hero yet i cant seem to find the HDD on my bios, it has power as the power cord is also powering my SSD which i can find is there any reason for this?

Hi, mbarnes86

i just still cannot see it inside the BIOS however i went into disk management and can see an unallocated slot in disk 0 at 128GB , i look inside the properties and it is called stdm001, i have attempted to initilize the disk and it states that there is an I/O error

Hi

Each hard disk is shown separately in disk management

Each head disk has one or more partitions

The boot partition (if vista or latter ) has at least 2 partitions

Post a picture of what you see in disk management

If disks are on a raid controller they may be seen by raid controller bios not main bios.
You would see a 2 TB hard drive if it is working properly and it would be seen by bios and show up in device manager with size, make and model

You may have to configure the BIOS to make the HDD detected during the BIOS post, and accessible in Windows.

Download the motherboard user manual from this page, and check the manual in: Chapter 3, Page 3-45, the page explains what setting to configure to make the Hard Drive be detected during the BIOS post...

Check my suggestion I'd bet that would solve it... if a HDD is not detected in the BIOS post, it's drivers can't be loaded, and it will not work in Windows.
