Bios does not support usb boot and i want to install xp on it

Hello,
i have a asus laptop and my bios does not support booting in usb .....my win xp is corrupted and i cant access it....my cd rom drive is broken..i have a floppy drive and 2 usb ports...i tried to install the win xp sp2 using external cd drive but it was not detected...soooo pls tell me way i cud install the windows xp on it using a pendrive...thnks and regards...i need it damnly and immediately

Can't be done unless you could flash the BIOS with an upgrade but you can't do that either. A replacement internal CD ROM is your best answer. Although the BIOS doesn't actually allow USB booting, there may be a setting to enable USB Legacy Support which would help it recognise the external CD.

If there is a BIOS update, it's normally done using a floppy drive. If your floppy drive is still functional, that's an option. An update may give the USB boot option.

The best option is probably to replace the internal CD drive. Here's a general guide to replacing laptop hardware. This is only for a general guide, as you probably don't have this model.

If your system is not detecting your external CD drive because it might have a driver not installed in your PC (You have a broken CD ROM) .

You have 3 Options :

1- Connect your external CD drive to your laptop FIRST , then RESTART YOUR PC AND SEE IF YOU CAN MAKE THIS DRIVE A BOOTABLE CD INSTEAD OF YOUR CD ROM.

2- If option 1 - failed Try to download the driver of your external CD from the web site and repeat option 1 .

3- Replacing the internal CD ROM will be your last chance.
