Okay, I appologise if this si in the wrong thread forum, it was either here or storage.

My laptop has ubuntu 16.04.6, and after installing this on ssd which replaced the hhd, It worked but my dash wasn't searchable and some reason i was not root. The hhd Worked fine so i know my laptop is compatable with the os, but since unity is nearly unusable without dash, i tried reinstalling.... 5 times.

All 5 the bios never saw the way to boot into the system. I tried "add boot option" in bios but this only resulted in bios freeze. How would i make my system bootable? My ssd was installed alone. the hhd wasnt ever in at the same time as it.

I used rufus to create a hybrid iso on thunb drive, 860 evo ssd 500gb, celeron quad core 1.1 ghz, 8gb ram, and some asus board. Its a laptop. I don't know if important, but hhd survived many reinstalls via iso cd rather than flash. The only diffrence is ssd and flash drive, asside from these problems mentioned in first post.
