Bios Flash Asus P5W DH Deluxe Windows Logo Freeze

Hi,

I updated my motherboards Asus P5W DH Deluxe Bios from version 1407 to 3002 in order to be able to upgrade the E6600 CPU to a Q9450 CPU. Now, when I boot the PC it freezes on the windows 8 start up logo... Can someone help me out?

When you go to download the BIOS and it asks you which o/s you're using, what did you select from the list ?

Actually, lets not have that conversation- your motherboard does not support Windows 8. Good luck with your quest.

BIOS & OS shouldn't affect one another I read somewhere... Don't know why they're asking it when downloading BIOS files...

Theoretically the BIOS version can be tuned for a particular o/s. The fact that Asus dont produce a version of the BIOS for the o/s that you're trying to install should be your first clue. Most likely no testing has been performed on this configuration, and only limited driver support will be available.

This is a somewhat incorrect statement; I was running 8.1 before selling mine late December. The issue is that Windows 8 requires VT which does not work with the Q9450 CPU; that info is available in the FAQ: http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/103696/ Windows 8 runs fine with a supported 65nm CPU like the E6700 or a Q6600.
