Hi!
Is there a setting in BIOS for disabling/enabling the mic? if so, where is it?

Im on a MSI p35 Neo

Vista

thanks!

Okay, just bought a new soundcard, my mic is still not working, the headset is working, nothing is muted in control panel OR skype OR the program, is it possible that something has broken in the mobo and cant control the mic anymore?

It doesnt work with the onboard sound, it doesnt work with the new sound board, yes, i have plugged in the mic (in the front in the back and in the new sound card, and nothing.
I have checked both realtek HD audio and the new card setup and the control panel, nothing is muted there.
Nothing is muted in skype or anything, and the right mic is checked in the controlpanel and so on.
I just formated my HDD, no result there.
If you can guarantee there's no setup in bios which can cause this, well then it has to be something in the mobo that like "delivers" the sound info.
the normal output sound works however, just not the recording.

I know this sounds crazy but plug some headphones into the mic port and check if you can record sounds that way, if you can then your mic might be at fault or the wrong kind, most pc's take the powered type mics which have a three conductor 3.5mm jack connector.

Yep just make sure you turn it up a lot.
