I transferred a GPT disk from my dying laptop to my new computer. The BIOS doesn't seem to have the usual option of LEGACY/UEFI in Setup, but complains if I try to boot this GPT from it, saying I should reconfigure to UEFI, but there doesn't seem to be any option in the Bios setüp. Having booted from a MSDOS-type partition the system accepts a second GPT disk, will even (using Gparted) let me set up a new GPT partition table , but will not accept this disp as Boot. when selected at startup with BootSelect F8.
Has anyone used Uefi with these MB?

I am aware of that.

The question was IF the Bios has GPT, which one could reasonably expect in 2017 . The manufacturer says yes, but nowhere in the documentation or Bios settings does it say HOW to set GPT

That cannot be correct as the 2 disks came from another UEFI machine & were already GPT.

All other BIOS' I have ever used have the explicit option in BIOS setup to choose between Legacy and UEFI. This AM BIOS doesn't offer this option anywhere in Setup as far as I can see
