I was overclocking my FX6300 the other day and i noticed an option in the BIOS to only use modules as cores (So it would take my FX6300 from a 6 core CPU to a 3, but i imagine the cores would be much stronger)

Would this offer any kind of performance increase in gaming? Or should i leave it as it is?

Each module is 2 almost full cores. The floating point unit is shared between them.

So when you are doing something that does not need the floating point unit used on both cores of a module at the same time it will perform better than something that wants to make use of the single floating point unit on both cores(because they only have one between them).
